Biography

David Pollock is a governing board member for the Moorpark Unified School District.  He was first elected in 1994 after chairing the district’s Committee for Effective Schools, a group that recommended ways to improve elementary schools in Moorpark.  He has served as board president three times and also led the Ventura County School Boards Association as its president for three years.Reading to Children

In 2001, David was elected vice president of the California School Boards Association (CSBA) which represents almost 1,000 school boards across the state.  He served as an officer for four years including a one-year term as president in 2004.  During his tenure at CSBA, David worked with the legislature and two governors to protect school funding and preserve the autonomy of California school boards. 

He served as a member of the influential Education Coalition and on the board of the Cities-Counties-School Coalition. David at the High School

David is currently the senior director for program development at CSBA, a post he accepted after his tenure as an officer.  Prior to this assignment, he worked for Rocketdyne, then a unit of the Boeing Company, for 18 years.  At Rocketdyne, David was responsible for market planning and a recognized expert on the budgets and space programs of NASA, the U.S. Air Force and commercial satellite operators. 

David is a commercially licensed pilot and certified flight instructor.  He taught flying at Santa Monica Airport before working at Flying Tigers, the world’s largest air cargo airline at the time and now a part of Federal Express.

David in SacramentoDavid holds a B.S. degree in management from Pepperdine University and an M.B.A. degree from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. 

Prior to his adult career, David was a child actor.  He appeared in twenty televisions commercials, ten television features and six motion pictures.  He is best known for his role as Rudi Stein in the Bad News Bears movies.
