Preserving the Character of Our Community

Moorpark is a beautiful community to live in and a wonderful place to raise families. One of the many reasons people move here is to escape the congestion of urban areas and over-built suburbs. It is important that we never allow urban sprawl to turn Moorpark into just another megatropolis. For this reason, David will fight to make sure the open space and green belts that surround Moorpark are protected for generations to come.

Crime

Moorpark is one of the safest communities in the nation and needs to stay that way. David is concerned about a recent rise in violent crimes in Moorpark and credits good police work for arrests in every case. David understands the importance of strategic law enforcement and has long supported having a School Resource Officer on duty at Moorpark High School. The key to keeping our community safe is making sure crimes aren’t anonymous. By working together with our youngest citizens and the community at large, we can keep Moorpark safe.

Smart Growth

One of the attractions of Moorpark is that it is small enough to be neighborly, yet large enough to sustain conveniences usually found in larger communities. Moorpark is preparing to revise its General Plan which will determine how the city builds out. David will use his knowledge of the community and a critical eye to make sure there is adequate consideration of public needs for parks, recreation, schools, utilities and roads. David will also make sure new developments include enough affordable housing so our children and grandchildren can stay and raise their families in Moorpark.

Supporting Local Businesses

David’s professional background and training is in business. He is a strong believer in the free enterprise system, but also knows that public interests must never be lost in the process. David will fight to make sure new and existing businesses are given a fair chance to thrive in Moorpark. David understands that it is small businesses that will lead us out of our economic crisis.

Educating Our Children

Our schools are a tremendous source of pride for our city and the most-cited reason for moving here. Having served 14 years on our school board, David knows that it takes the support of the entire community for students to achieve at high levels. David supports high expectations and adequate support for our students. He has dedicated his career to the interests of California’s 6.4 million school children and will continue to promote better schools in Moorpark and across California.

Invigorating High Street and Downtown

David has always believed that High Street has tremendous untapped potential. It is not only the cultural heart of Moorpark, but it can be a popular destination for the whole region as it once was in the heyday of the Moorpark Melodrama, now renovated to be the High Street Arts Center (HSAC). David supports the proposed renovations planned for High Street, the new weekly Farmers Market, and keeping a vibrant HSAC as giant steps toward enhancing the character our community.
